For the past couple of years Villa de Nuevo Progreso has been the gathering place for motorcycle enthusisasts from all over the United States. Some local merchants, being motorcylcists themselves, got together and agreed to form an organizing welcoming commite for their friends.

Together with South Padre Island Bike Fest and the Mexican Acrobatics Squadron of Mexico City, Nuevo Progreso was host to over 2000 bikes on October 14th, 2005.

The event was a complete success with mixed reactions from the town locals and other merchants over the hordes of motorcycles that had rolled into town. As for the “organizing comittee”, well, they had already started planning for more bike events, and they even have their own bike club in Nuevo Progreso now called Tequileros Bike Club.
